It's not enough to know how much you weigh. We need to know what makes up that weight to achieve your goals. For example, let's say 3 different people need to lose 20lbs. The first person has 20lbs of extra water retention, the second person has 20lbs of extra body fat, and the third person has a combination of water retention and fat. Knowing the whole story helps us to know what to do next... for truly personalized and effective wellness strategies.
The RJL Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis or (BIA) is a method of assessing your "body composition" - the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. This device is use by the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, the National Institutes of Health and many more universities and researchers around the world. This testing is often used as an objective assessment to track weight loss and muscle gain progress.
Research has shown that body composition is directly related to health. A normal balance of fat is associated with good health and longevity. Excess fat in relation to lean body mass, altered body composition, can greatly increase your risk to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and more.
BIo Impedance Analysis (BIA) is a quick, safe, and painless technology used by leading hospitals and universities all over the world. In a matter of minutes, just four small adhesive pads connect to the RJL BIA device and the device will gather the measurements needed to generate a view of "what you're really made of" which will help us design and customize a plan to help you reach your goals.
I've use various forms of tracking progress, but BIA gives so much more useful information. Information you can take to your doctor.
What Will I Get?:
- Body Fat Ratio
- Free Mass (lean body mass)
- Total Body Water (intracellular and extracellular)
- Lean Dry Mass (muscle)
- BMR (basal metabolic rate) this is the amount of calories burned at rest
- DEE (daily energy expenditure) this is the amount of calories burned during activity
- Phase Angle
Follow Up Analysis
I conduct a series of follow-up analysis to monitor your health and measure your progress. This is an effective and outstanding way to show changes in body composition over time.
